ABOUT
Computer-Aided Therapeutic Discovery and Design
CAT2D

At the CAT2D Lab, our mission is to advance disease understanding and therapeutic discovery through an interdisciplinary approach that merges computational modeling with experimental validation.

We are driven by a commitment to improving drug accessibility, especially in African settings where many diseases remain neglected. By exploring bioactive compounds from natural products and integrating cutting-edge technologies, we aim to identify affordable, impactful therapies.

Beyond our research, we champion the widespread adoption of bioinformatics among early-career researchers and students in Africa, beginning with Nigeria. We organize internships and hands-on training programs to build local capacity and nurture future scientific leaders.

Through collaboration, mentorship, and skill development, we hope to build a community of researchers equipped to lead Africa’s biomedical innovation.

Natural Product Research

Our lab is committed to bridging this gap by investigating bioactive compounds derived from indigenous medicinal plants as novel therapeutic agents against validated disease targets.

Computational Therapeutics

We employ computational methodologies to streamline and enhance the early stages of drug discovery.

Target Discovery and Validation

At the CAT2D Lab, we apply systems biology and integrative omics approaches, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and network analysis, to uncover dysregulated genes, proteins, and pathways implicated in various diseases.

Rational Vaccine Design

Using immunoinformatics approaches, we design multi-epitope vaccines targeting key pathogens and oncogenic viruses
